In search of baby gifts at the Baby and Toddler Show

We’re starting to get out and about – we’ve got some local events planned to exhibit at in the run up to Christmas – and we’ve been to our first major exhibition: the excellent Baby & Toddler Show (follow @BabyShows) at Sandown Park racecourse. We weren’t exhibiting ourselves (and certainly not literally!) we were there to network, meet potential new suppliers, and see what’s relevant to us in the marketplace.

We attended on day one, and got there soon after opening, it was already buzzing inside. There were a lot of exhibitors and every stand was presented and branded in such a fantastic way. With design backgrounds we were both in awe of the many funky logos some companies were proudly displaying.

The few hours we spent at the show were extremely useful, and everyone we spoke to was so welcoming and helpful. Whilst we will never be the biggest buyers of their products, we will certainly be enthusiastic, and the idea of our baby gift delivery service was very well received in return.

We can’t mention everyone in this blog but we can pick out a few companies who made a huge impression on us, and who’s lines will hopefully enhance our own gift collection at some point in the future.

BPM Childcare’s SillyBillyz bibs range was brilliant! They have all sorts of bib designs but the bandana bibs really drew our attention and they come in some very vibrant colours and patterns, almost too good to get food on! Oh and there’s an organic range too, how neat! The Isoki collection of contemporary style change bags would also make a great stand-alone gift for any expectant Mum. Follow @SillyBillyzUK.

We stopped by at Hippchick who are from Somerset. For our business, we are always on the look-out for products which could be contained as part of a gift basket or keepsake box, or can be offered as an individual item. In particular we liked their ‘Buggi Lights’ – what a great idea, especially with dark evenings just around the corner – and also the comforters; we’re talking really cute here. Next we met Cuddledry, creators of the award-winning Cuddledry ‘hands-free’ baby bath towel. Yes, HANDS FREE! And we know because we had the slickest of demos complete with very well-behaved baby doll. This is a great piece of kit! And whilst they are slightly out of our age range, the toddler dress up towels looked devine, look out for the Cuddleroar, a mini green dragon hooded towel! Follow @cuddledry.

Our final mention for this blog is the lovely Books & Pieces from Leicestershire.  Books are something that’s missing from our own products and we were interested to see some little-people books suitable for the bath too. They also have some gorgeous cuddly toys. Follow @BooksPieces.

Actually, a fib, it’s not quite the final plug; we didn’t actually get to see Vital Baby close up, but we did see a couple of their products in the gift bag, thank you very much! We thought the ‘Mum on the go’ pack of disposable bibs and changing mat was a fabulous idea; we need to think about a few more practical gifts so have this on our radar. They also have a suction food bowl called ‘Unbelievabowl’ – such genius naming! Follow @VitalBaby.

So that’s about it. Whilst we've been penning this, we’ve been invited to have a Christmas fayre stall at one our region’s business parks, so we’ll be getting out and about even more! In the meantime, check out our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to find out what our Snugglebugs have been up to, people have sent us pictures of their adventures (looks like they travel in style), and there’s some from us too. If you’re reading this, you’re already on our website, so why not check out our products while you’re here? We’ve even added some gifts for Christmas babies, do you know of any on their way?! Thanks for reading :)
